Today while reading a few blog psts I came across a great idea for teaching the bible to children during Lent. I don't practice Lent but this seemed like a cool and easily adaptable idea. Keep an eye out later tonight for an upcoming post on how we're doing it and a link to the inspirational post!
Here the boys are coloring a giant cross made of packing paper. I never throw that stuff out.
Here's what we did first though. They painted while I was reading and putting the above idea together.
Somehow I managed to make a marblish paint bubble for SuperT to make an M. It's one of his favorite letters.
Batman just loves the process of painting. He just doesn't know when to quit haha! If I want something nice, like for a card or gift to a grandparent I have to make him change papers. On his next paper he can just destroy it if he wants.
There was no goal to our painting session other than boredom busting! In case you're wondering I used large foam sheets as 'table protectors'. Next time I'm out that way I'm stopping at the dollar tree to get shower curtains to use. Train Up A Child suggests them in this post!
Take a look at the zoo the boys made. All I did was tape paper to the floor and draw a few blobs to represent animal homes. Oh, and a line for roads because Batman couldn't decide between a race track or a zoo.
I love the idea of painting inside of the playdough molds! I know we have some stencils, too...
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the ideas! The boys had a blast and clean up was easy enough even though they got the table quite a bit!
